Episode 2: Key legal considerations when starting a business
Ignition’s Jake Schogger hosts a detailed discussion on the key legal considerations to keep in mind when starting a business, with Ignition partner and head of corporate/finance, Helen Gerrard.
In this episode, we explore the pros and cons of setting up as a limited company, the legal steps that this entails, why these are important and how to get them right, and the importance of drawing up a shareholders’ agreement as early as possible.
Prior to joining Ignition in 2016, Helen worked at Magic Circle firm Freshfields for many years (in both London and New York), as well as at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in New York and Linklaters in London. She has also undertaken secondments to Goldman Sachs, Alcentra, Barings, Barclays Bank PLC and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Ltd. In addition, Helen is also an entrepreneur, having founded SnowDrone Transfers in 2014, a private transport company with a fleet of 30 vehicles operating across the French Alps.
