Episode 6: Key employment law obligations when hiring staff with Polly Jeanneret
Ignition’s Jake Schogger hosts a practical discussion on the employment law obligations that come with hiring staff, with Ignition senior employment lawyer, Polly Jeanneret.
In this episode, we explore the key legal obligations founders and scaling businesses take on the moment they hire their first employee, covering contracts, policies and best practice for onboarding, and how getting the fundamentals right from day one helps businesses avoid costly disputes further down the line.
Polly’s legal career began at Charles Russell in the City, where she qualified in 1998. In 2006, she became one of the first generation of ‘agile’ lawyers, developing her own independent practice before bringing her clients to Ignition. Polly advises on a full range of employment law issues, mainly acting for employers, and helps them manage employee-related disputes with a responsive and commercial approach. She also works as a legal and current affairs journalist under the name Polly Botsford.
