What do you do for your clients at Ignition Law?
I advise on a broad range of commercial matters; applying my legal knowledge and experience to find solutions which allow my clients to achieve their objectives.
What gets me out of bed in the morning
There is nothing better than getting out in the warm early morning sun to start the day – although more often than not it’s the gym or a swim that gets me up and about. In terms of work, I love working with entrepreneurs who have cultivated their business from the ground up; it creates an atmosphere of drive, appreciation and people who absolutely love what they do, which is infectious.
An entrepreneur I admire
For his bold attitude and ability to constantly diversify and evolve, Michael Spencer. Spencer founded ICAP in 1986 with three of his fellow brokers, and built it from scratch into the largest inter-dealer broker in the world; also breaking into the FTSE 100. During such time, Spencer also set up ICAP Charity Day, an annual event which sees the firm donate all of its revenues and commissions from one day to charity. In 27 years, it has raised over £150 million. Spencer’s unwavering ambition and pioneering approach, combined with his dedication to philanthropy, is inspiring.
What would you put on your Ignition Law playlist or bookshelf?
With two young babies, I more often listen to podcasts than find the time to read a book. On my playlist at the moment are Russell Kane’s “Boys Don’t Cry” and Table Manners with Jessie Ware – the latter is ideal for anyone with a food obsession.
A social cause I care about is…
The gender pay gap and equal pay.
