Head of Dispute Resolution

Paula Kumar

Head of Dispute Resolution

What gets me out of bed in the morning

I’m excited by challenges and facing problems head on, knowing that my perseverance is helping my clients achieve their goal. I love working with original people who are motivated to explore whether better options exist. In my line of work, each day I’m faced with something new and I’m eager to get in the door first thing and get going.

An entrepreneur I admire

Sheryl Sandberg, who has not only reached the top of multi billion male dominated technology companies, but has opened up discussion on the leadership gap and inspired women to become entrepreneurs and leaders in their own right. From taking risks such as joining Google when it was still in startup mode, driving Facebook forward and dramatically increasing its profits, to giving keynote speeches advocating leadership skills, equality and social justice, she has challenged pre-existing methods and encouraged others to think outside of the box.

The fine print

  • Key Practices: Dispute resolution, Employment, Media and Entertainment
  • Education: Keele University (LLB Hons) and University of Westminster
  • Work: Simkins LLP, Swan Turton LLP
  • Memberships: Employment Lawyers Association
  • Other interests: I like to combine my love of travelling with challenging outdoor activities so if I’m hiking up or skiing down a mountain, canyoning down waterfalls, or zip lining across a forest or quarry, I’m having a great day.
