Al has over a decade of experience in advising companies and financial institutions of all sizes on strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, joint ventures, shareholders’ arrangements, and general corporate advisory work. Al also has experience of commercial contracts, particularly with respect to supply chains.

Al spent many years in leading City corporate departments. He has extensive experience in-house, as General Counsel of a high-growth venture-backed business. He also was seconded to corporate broker Peel Hunt earlier in his career.

Al acts for individuals and companies on significant transactions of all sizes including acquisitions, disposals, equity fundraising and on general corporate advisory and commercial matters. He has particular experience of working with private equity and venture capital backed companies and their sponsors, with a particular focus on the consumer, media, technology and real estate sectors.

Relevant experience includes:

  • Over 40 acquisitions for e-commerce group Heroes, including the acquisition of Trunki, the iconic ride-on suitcase brand
  • Multiple equity and debt financing rounds for Heroes
  • P&G on the sale of oral care brands Fluocaril and Parogencyl to Unilever
  • Acting for a tech-enabled logistics company on a large outsourcing with a large UK retailer
  • Foschini Group on its acquisition of fashion label Phase 8
  • True Capital on multiple investments in consumer and tech companies
  • An UHNW individual on early-stage investments into several start-ups
  • Roper Technologies on its acquisition of visual effects studio the Mill
  • Technicolor on several acquisitions and joint ventures
  • Mayer Bergman (now MARK) on the sale of the Burlington Arcade and its joint venture to develop Whiteleys, amongst other transactions
  • Various joint ventures relating to the development and operation of hotels across the world.
